Panama Papers: Champika Ranawaka Requests FCID Investigation On Ministry Adviser

Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka made a request from the police FCID to investigate in to the involvement of an adviser of the ministry with an overseas company.

The adviser, Vidya Amarapala, has resigned from his posts in the Ministry, paving way for investigations.

Ranawaka said that this step was taken after the revelations of the Panama Papers, since Amarapala has been involved in IWS Holdings and the Sovereign Capital Corporation.

However, Ranawaka also pointed out that there were no information on any wrongdoing on the side of Amarapala. This step was taken in accordance with the "Good Governance" principals of the government, Ranawaka said.
