Sri Lanka Rugby Legend Sajith Mallikarachchi Passes Away

Former Sri Lanka and Kandy SC captain and national selector Sajith Mallikarachchi died of a heart attack early this morning at the age of 37.

He is considered to be one of the most admirable center three quarters the country ever produced.

Last year Sajith was also appointed to the national selection committee under Michael Jayasekera.

Mallikarachchi was a part of the dazzling Isipathana College 1st XV during 1996/97 and then went on to represent Kandy SC from 1999 to 2007. He was a part of the Sri Lankan team, the Tuskers, for close to a decade representing the country in the Hong Kong sevens 5 times and the Dubai sevens 3 times. During the 2005/2006 season he captained Sri Lanka national team.
