Former Crimes OIC of the Narahenpita police station Sumith Perera was arrested a short while ago over the Wasim Thajudeen murder case, CID sources said.

Perera was arrested by the CID over charges of concealing evidence.

It was revealed earlier that Inspector Sumith Perera summoned the father of Wasim Thajudeen to the Narahenpita Police station on May 17, 2012 prior to producing him before DIG Anura Senanayake.

Statements were recorded from several police officers over Thajudeen murder case early this year.
