The Ministry of Fisheries yesterday announced that the EU ban on Sri Lankan fishing exports will be lifted with effect from April 21.

This was informed in a media release bearing the signature of Media Coordinating Secretary W.M.D. Wanninayake.

Within a few hours after the media release, the Ministry sent another release to media, alleging that the media had falsely reported a news item stating that the ban was lifted.

The Ministry has not only refrained from apologizing for the blunder, but had put the blame on the media.
