Homagama Magistrate Seeks Opinion On Contempt Of Court Action Against Gnanasara Thera

Homagama Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake filed a contempt of court petition against Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera, seeking its opinion on whether a contempt of court case could be heard at the Appeals Court against the monk.

The contempt of court action is sought over the behavior of the General Secretary of the radical Buddhist organization Bodu Bala Sena at the Homagama Magistrate's Court on January 25.

Gnanasara Thera was remanded over the incident on January 26 but was later released on bail. While releasing the Thera on bail in February, the Magistrate said that he will refer this case to the Court of Appeal.
