Narahenpita Crimes OIC Indicates Involvement Of Senior Police Officers In Thajudeen Murder Probe

The CID today informed the Colombo Magistrate Courts through a B report that the former Crimes OIC of Narahenpita police had confirmed the involvement of a senior police officer in the suppression of the investigation of Wasim Thajudeen's death.

The former Crimes OIC had told the CID at an earlier questioning that the senior police officer had instructed him to treat the incident as an accident and not to pursue the matter any further.

The CID recorded statements from several senior police officers over the suppression of information regarding Thajudeen's death. His death in May 2012 was described then as an accident. However, CID investigations launched after the election of President Maithripala Sirisena indicated that he had been murdered.
