Government Takes Over SriLankan Airlines Debts: Looks For Business Partner

Government will to take over the debts of the Sri Lankan Airlines amounting to US $ 3.25 billion to save the airline, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said.

He made this observation addressing the media earlier today.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe also said that SriLankan Airlines is not in a position to cancel four of its new A350 aircraft ordered.

Meanwhile, it was also announced that the government is looking to for a business partner for SriLankan Airlines for a partnership to what it had with Emirates.

The government has blamed the former government for the dire straits the SriLankan Airline has fallen to. Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa's brother Nishantha Wickramasinghe was the SriLankan Airlines Chairman during the Rajapaksa government era.
