JVP Files Complaint With PCCSL

A group of JVP members including the party leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake filed a complaint with the Press Complaints Commission of Sri Lanka, against a Sunday newspaper.

A feature published in the newspaper claimed that Dissanayake left for Ireland to escape inquiries made by the party regarding his finances. Also, while he was in Ireland, he met a woman with whom he had a child, the report claimed.The report also claimed that he met with the Spokesperson of Global Tamil Forum Suren Surendiran in Dublin.

JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva, Propaganda Secretary MP Vijitha Herath, Political Bureau member K. D. Lalkantha, Sunil Watagala, MPs Sunil Handunnetti and Bimal Rathnayake filed the complaint before the Chief Executive Officer of PCCSL Sukumar Rockwood and Complaints Officer Kamal Liyanaarachchi.

The JVP also requested the PCCSL to run an investigation regarding the false news and reveal the truth.
