Lal Kantha Demands Resignation Of 'Sunday Divaina' Editor

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Politburo Member K.D. Lal Kantha demanded that the 'Sunday Divaina' Editor Anura Solomans must resign following the fabricated story and news feature published on the JVP leader last Sunday.

If the newspaper is to regain at least some of its reputation, the clique, controlling the irresponsible media culture at Divaina should resign, he said.

Speaking to the media at the Press Complaints Commission yesterday after the party handed over a complaint against the news and news feature, Lal Kantha said that the Divaina newspaper has taken the role of leading irresponsible media culture in the country.

He blamed the owners and the senior editors for the state of the affairs.

The news report on JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake claimed that he had visited Ireland recently to escape party scrutiny of his finances and that he also had met with his illegitimate child and its mother while in Ireland.

Lal Kantha said that the party will continue to take its message about the false news report to the people and was also filing legal action against the newspaper.
