Veteran Journalist Dr. Ranga Kalansooriya is tipped to be appointed as the Government Information Director, highly placed government sources said.

Kalansooriya,  a former journalist at the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited, also functioned as the Director of Sri Lanka College of Journalism.

Before his stint at the Sri Lanka College of Journalism, Kalansooriya held a senior position in the Sri Lankan diplomatic mission in Malaysia.

He is the son of veteran author Somadevi Paranayapa.
