Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa was arrested by the FCID a short while ago. He is to be produced before the Matara Magistrate's Court.

He arrived at FCID this morning to give a statement on an alleged fraud regarding the purchase of a land in Brownhill, Matara.

There is a pending court case regarding this transaction at Matara Magistrate's Court.

FCID was investigating on several complaints been made over land deals, including the acquisition of a 1.5 acre land in Oruthota and the construction of a house in the land. Complaints have also been received on a land and a house in Malwana area.
