The Fundamental Rights petition filed by former Minister Rosy Senanayake requesting a recount of the preferential votes of the 2015 August 17 General Election was today dismissed by the Supreme Court.
The Attorney General submitted relevant documents to the court, pointing out that the UNP party agents had signed them saying that the election counting was carried out without an error.
Senanayake had argued that the counting had been erroneous, which affected her negatively.
However, the court accepted the argument by the AG and dismissed the case.
Senanayake came 12th in the UNP preferential list in Colombo District. Only 11 UNP candidates entered the Parliament.
