Danger Of Rocks Falling To Southern Expressway Due To Landslide Threat

Local residents have raised concern of the threat of rock falls to the Southern Highway between Imaduwa and Pinnaduwa interchanges due to the landslide threat arising from the Rangoda Hill.

A part of the hill collapsed on May 16, raising the possibility of a rock fall.

The hill is located between the 100km and 101km points of the expressway.

The hill was strengthened with cement at the time of the construction of the expressway to prevent landslides. However, a part of the strengthened area is also threatening to collapse, our reporter said.
