Sri Lankan Refugee Electrocuted Near Chennai

A 54-year-old Sri Lankan living in a refugee camp in Tiruvallur near Chennai was electrocuted on Tuesday evening.

Police said Ranganathan, a native Trincomalee, had been living in the refugee camp for the past few years.

On Tuesday evening, there was a power cut, and Ranganathan went to the electrical junction box to check it when power was suddenly restored. He received an electric shock was flung to a distance.

He was rushed to a private hospital in Puzhal. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.

The body was moved to the Stanley Medical College and Hospital and informed the Sri Lankan high commission about the incident.
