Over 25,000 Civilians Evacuated From Colombo

With the onset of floods, the army and navy has evacuated over 25,000 people from Colombo to safer areas.

Accordingly, the army evacuated about 20 000 people who were affected by the floods in Colombo by this morning. The Sri Lanka Navy has evacuated about 6300 people in Colombo as well.

The evacuation started last evening, as warnings were given for the people to leave. The operation ended at about 2 a.m. today. The affected civilians were taken to several safe locations.

Meanwhile, search operations for the missing people in Bulathkohupitiya and Aranayaka areas was started this morning.
