US, Nepal To Provide Aid For Disaster Relief

The Government of United States of America has provided 50,000 U.S. dollars (Rs.7.3 million) to use on immediate disaster assistance for items such as clothing, blankets, mattresses, and hygiene kits, the Embassy of USA in Colombo said in a statement.

The US Embassy, under coordination of the United States Agency for International Development's Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance, is expediting plans to support a three-year project, totaling approximately U.S. $1 million (Rs. 144 million) programmed to provide disaster-resilient drinking water to populations which are highly prone to flooding and droughts.

Meanwhile, the Government of Nepal has offered an assistance of US dollars 100,000 for flood relief operations.
