Three Ministers Launch Satyagraha In Pettah

A group of public representatives including Minister P. Digambaram, Mano Ganeshan, and State Minister V. Radhakrishnan have started a Satyagraha campaign in front of Fort Railway Station, demanding higher wages for estate workers.

“We request government to give estate workers the salary increment of Rs 2500 which was given to state workers. If we do not receive a proper answer within four days, we will stage a strike along with estate workers islandwide”, Radhakrishnan stated.

Several MPs such as Aravinda Kumar, and Suresh Wadiwel have also joined the Satyagraha.

Ganesan's Democratic People's Front, Digambaram's National Workers' Congress and Radhakrishnan's Upcountry People's Front are the constituent parties of the Tamil Progressive Alliance.
