Nalin Perera Appears At PRECIFAC To Give Statement On Hambantota Habour Opening Ceremony

Veteran artiste Nalin Perera was summoned to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges (PRECIFAC) to obtain a statement on the opening ceremony of the Hambantota Harbour in 2010.

He had been summoned earlier on May 26 but did not appear on that day.

Several people including former Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena, veteran artiste Jackson Anthony and veteran artiste Channa Wijeywardena have been summoned to the commission to record statements on the event.

Anthony was the creative director for the ceremony held in 2010. Questions have been raised on the expenditure of the event as Rs. 15 million had been spent for the dance acts alone. The dance acts were performed by the Channa-Upuli Dance Academy run by popular dancers Channa Wijewardena and Upuli Panibharatha.
