Human Rights Commission's Recommendations For New Constitution (Full Text)

The Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission sent its recommendations for a new Constitution to the Prime Minister and the Speaker yesterday.

The Commission has made several recommendations including changes to the Constitutional Council and the separation of powers.

Accordingly, the Commission reccomends that no politician should be included in the Constitutional Council.

Meanwhile the Commission states that the independence of the judiciary should be guaranteed and the Judicial Services Commission should be strengthened.
