The government is considering the removal of VAT exemption for cigarettes and alcohol, Minister of Special Assignment Sarath Amunugama said today.

He made this observation at a press conference held in Colombo.

Amunugama also said that the government was considering the removal of the VAT on medical laboratory tests and air tickets.
