Thajudeen Murder: CCTV Report Expected From Canada In August

The CCTV footage pertaining to the murder of former Havelock's Captain and Sri Lanka rugby player Wasim Thajudeen have been sent to the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Canada and a report is expected in August, CID informed court today.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris had earlier given permission for the CID to send the footage for expert analysis.

Meanwhile, former Crimes OIC of Narahenpita Police Sumith Perera and former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake were further remanded till July 7.

Anura Senanayake's lawyer raised concern on his client's health, based on his doctor's reports. Accordingly, Senanayake has a kidney problem and a heart problem and is showing possible signs of initial stages of cancer, the lawyer said.

The Magistrate directed that the court cannot take a decision based on a private doctor and ordered the Superintendent of Prisons to direct him to a JMO.
