UPFA MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena and UPFA MP Sriyani Wijewickrama were injured due to accidents during a protest by the Joint Opposition in Pettah and was admitted to hospital.

The Joint Opposition is holding a protest against extending the services of Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran.

Mahendran, however, told the Monetary Board that he will not seek an extension until his name is cleared by the COPE.
