Sri Lanka Medical Council Remains Opposed To SAITM

Sri Lanka Medical Council Chairman Prof. Carlo Fonseka yesterday reiterated its position that the SAITM in Malabe is not suitable as a medical college.

Speaking to the media yesterday, Fonseka pointed out that a ten member team of SLMC experts had inspected the SAITM and recommended that it is not suitable for producing doctors. The position remains unchanged, he added.

Medical students who marched against the SAITM were dispersed by the police on Thursday at Kollupitiya. The Inter University Student Federation and the GMOA slammed this attack at separate press conferences held yesterday.
