T.M Dilshan To Enter Politics

Sri Lankan cricketer T.M. Dilshan's wife Manjula Thilini has hinted of her husband's possible entry into active politics.

When asked by a journalist whether Dilshan intended to join active politics, Thilini, who was a popular actress at one point, had said he would certainly make a major step in that direction. She made this revelation in an interview with a weekend Tabloid newspaper.

"When he makes that move, we will certainly inform the media, But at this point, he is only a cricketer who plays for the country" Manjula Thilini had said. Dilshan had previously told media that he would play for the national cricket team of Sri Lanka until the 2015 World Cup. His possible entry into politicsm, according to Manjula Thilini, will happen only after his retirement from all formats of the game.

Dilshan also became the captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team when Kumar Sangakkara stepped down from captaincy after the 2011 Cricket World Cup. He has been a member of the team since November 1999, and was also known as Tuwan Mohammad Dilshan before his conversion to Buddhism.

He retired from Test Cricket in 2013 at the helm of his career.
