Deputy Minister Arundika Fernando, who is a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, stated that the most senior official of the Central Bank will be appointed its next Governor.

He made this observation speaking to the media yesterday.

The three most senior officers of the bank are now function as its deputy Governors. They are Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, P. Samarasinghe and S. Lankathilake.

Dr. Weerasinghe is the most senior of the three and is widely speculated to be the next Governor of the bank.
