Joint Opposition stalwart Dinesh Gunawardena has welcomed the appointment of Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy as the new Central Governor. 

"We welcome appointment of a New CB Governor, an experienced professional & respected in his field.Hope he brings credibility to CBSL & CBG," Gunawardena said, in a Twitter post, a short while ago. 

Ginawardena is the first opposition politician tof welcome the appointment of Coomaraswamy as the Central Bank Governor. 

The Joint Opposition strongly pushed for the removal of former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran. 

Dr. Coomaraswamy  is due to assume duties as the Central Bank Governor on Monday.
