The CID today informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris that another senior police officer is under investigations for allegedly supressing evidence regarding the Wasim Thajudeen murder.

Accordingly the then Director of the Colombo Crime Division SP DRL Ranaweera is being investigated.

Former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake and former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Sumith Perera, who are under remand custody over suppression of evidence, were remanded further by the Additional Magistrate.

Since they are also charged on conspiring to murder the Magistrate's Court does not have jurisdiction to grant them bail, it was also observed. Bail applications should be filed to the High Court, the Magistrate also directed.
