Local Councilors supporting former President Mahinda Rajapaksa met with him at his office in Battaramulla and expressed their willingness to launch a new movement under his leadership.

Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa also took part in this meeting.

The participants expressed their support for a new party led by Rajapaksa.

It was also decided to take part in the Kandy-Colombo protest march 'Jana Satana Pada Yatra' organized by the Joint Opposition.
