Turkey Coup: Jet Drops Bombs Near Ankara Presidential Palace

A military jet dropped bombs near the Presidential Palace in the Turkish capital Ankara as the military coup launched late on Friday night local time was appearing to falter.

The first reports of the attack near the Ankara Presidential Palace came through AFP.

The Turkish government earlier said that it was taking control of the situation. President Racep Tayyip Erdogan is in Istanbul.

A Turkish official told media that the coup will be crushed within the next few hours.
