Managing Director of ABC Media Network Rayynor Silva has made an eleventh hour decision not to enter active politics from the ruling party.
Earlier there were discussions between the prominent businessman and some top echelons of the ruling party over his possible entry into politics. The matter was also discussed when President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Parliamentarian Duminda Silva’s house a few weeks ago.

Sources close to Rayynor Silva said the businessman, at that point, had responded positively to the request came from the ruling party.
However, he has now changed his mind and decided to focus on his businesses, without entering active politics. He is also a staunch supporter of the political campaign of his brother, Parliamentarian Duminda Silva.
Rayynor Silva’s decision has taken several senior members of the ruling party by surprise, highly placed sources of the United Freedom People’s Alliance (UPFA) by surprise.
Rayynor Silva started his career as an Executive Officer of MTV/MBC Media network. He later went on to be the proprietor of ABC Media Network which owns several radio stations and a TV station.
