Wigneswaran Opposes Development Of Keeramalai Fisheries Harbour

Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran opposed the central government's decsion to construct a fisheries harbor at Keeramalai in the Jaffna Peninsula.

Wigneswaran stated that it was wrong to construct a fisheries harbour in the vicinity of a religious site.

Located to the north of Jaffna city, Keeramalai is a kovil where the Hindus invoke blessings on their fathers after they have passed away. Wigneswaran attended a religious event at the pond in Keeramalai yesterday.

Wigneswaran also revealed that he has already requested the central government to stop the construction of the harbour.
