An assistant education director who was hit by a stone thrown at the train in which he was traveling has passed away yesterday while undergoing treatment at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. 

The Police said that the deceased was being treated at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit for last five days.

He was hit by a stone while traveling from Colombo to Anuradhapura on last Wednesday (3) for an official matter. This incident took place between Wanawasala and Kelaniya railway stations. 

The deceased was a 49-years-old from Puliyankulama, Anuradhapura.
