Weeks After Suicide Drama, Thewarapperuma Warns Of Further Action

The fight which started with the 'unfair' rejection of 09 students by the Meegahathenna primary school is not yet finished Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs, Palitha Thewarapperuma, said recently.

Taking part in a meeting on Sunday (7) at Nawalakanda, Meegahatenna, he further mentioned that this fight will end after the persons who committed injustice for people tried backdoor the good governance government are punished, reopen the closed down classes of Meegahatenna primary school and reform Meegahatenna Meril Kariyawasam Central College a national school.

Last month, Deputy Minister was famously arrested after a dramatic turn of events at the Meegahathenna primary school. He attempted to commit suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan as an act of protest, claiming justice for a group of students who were rejected their admission into the Grade One of the Meegahatenna primary school. Later the students were given the opportunity to enroll at St. Mary’s College, Matugama.
