Sri Lanka’s Everest Champion Appointed As Brand Ambassador For Women's Rights

Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has announced that Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala will be appointed as the new brand ambassador regarding women’s rights protection.

This appointment will be valid till 2017.

Kuru-Utumpala is appointed to appreciate her achievement in becoming the first Sri Lankan to summit Mount Everest. 

Minister Chandrani Bandara will make the appointment tomorrow.

On May 21, 2016, Kuru-Utumpala summited the world’s highest mountain, becoming the first Sri Lankan to do so.
