Weerawansa Wants OMP Bill Back In Parliament (VIDEO)

Since the suggested amendments were not included in the Office for Missing Persons (OMP) bill, it should be brought back to the parliament, requested National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa.

He made this request at the parliament yesterday.

He pointed out that, MPs supported the Act with the expectation of the amendments suggested by them will be included. As they are complaining about the absence of amendments, the bill should be brought back to the parliament for further debate, Weerawansa said, adding that his party, the NFF, is opposed to the bill.

Weerawansa further stated that the Act is a 'factory' to generate evidence to accuse and punish war heroes and not a mechanism to investigate on disappeared people during the JVP insurgency during the 1980s as suggested by some parties.
