Former President and Kurunegala District MP Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to visit Malaysia to take part in the Asia Pacific Parliamentarians' Union convention in Kuala Lumpur.

The convention will be held from September 1 to 4.

Several other 'Joint Opposition' MPs are expected to accompany Rajapaksa in this trip.

Rajapaksa had earlier indicated that he will not be in the island to attend the SLFP convention, which is to be held on September 4.
