Scottish Man Named Suspect Over Counter Case Filed By Malaka Silva

The Scottish national who was involved in a night club clash with former Minister Mervyn Silva's son Malaka Silva was named a suspect in the counter case filed by Malaka Silva

Silva alleges that he was allegedly assaulted by the Scot.

Malaka Silva is already a suspect in allegedly assaulting James Casserly.

Casserly was released on a personal bail of Rs 200,000 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris when the cases came up in the court yesterday.

The alleged incident took place at the Rhythm & Blues nightclub, Colombo, in 2014.

Casserly, now 44, was celebrating his birthday with girlfriend Belinda Mackenzie when Malaka Silva Mackenzie and allegedly groped her. When she pushed him away, he is said to have struck her twice in the face and head.

Casserly retaliated, punching Silva, but within seconds he said he was wrestled to the ground while Mr Silva’s bodyguards kicked him around the head, causing injuries that have impaired his vision.

However, Silva told investigators that he was attacked by Casserly after intervening to stop the Scot “beating up” his girlfriend.
