BBS general secretary Galagodaaththe Gnanasara thera has informed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to question SLMC Leader Minister Rauff Hakeem over violent clashes in Aluthgama, Beruwala and Dharga Town.
While giving a statement to the CID, Gnanasara Thera had said that it was not him but Minister Rauff Hakeem that they should be investigating.
Gnanasara thera has further made claims that not only Minister Hakeem but other Muslim leaders too who "have shed crocodile tears and made deceitful claims" in front of international media, should also be brought in for questioning.
BBS General Secretary was questioned by the CID on Wednesday over the commotion in Beruwala, Aluthgama and Dharga Town, in Aluthgama. The questioning came in the wake of the claims that Gnanasara Thera's controversial speech in Aluthgama incited violence against Muslims.

In his four hour long statement, Gnanasara Thera completely distanced himself from the incident and said the BBS had no hand behind the violence. He accused the "Muslim extremist elements"of inciting violence and said they wanted to trigger a clash between the Sinhalese and the Muslims.
