There is a placonspiracy underway to create discord between the President and the Prime Minister, Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga said yesterday.

He revealed this at the 'Save the Sports' seminar held yesterday at Urapola Maha Vidyalaya in Gampaha District.

Ranatunga claimed that a group of people who earned huge amounts of money when the previous government was in power were also behind this effort. Certain websites have joined in this conspiracy too, he further claimed.

Ranatunga said that the leaders of the 'January 8 revolution' want the President and Prime Minister to further the government's development program and establish good governance in the country. Those who do not want this to happen try to disrupt the programme of the government, he charged.
