Hacking President's Website: Schoolboy Sent To Probation, Other Individual Remanded

Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered the 17-year-old schoolboy who was arrested for hacking the President's official website to be sent to probational home till Friday.

The other individual who was arrested for aiding the hacking was remanded till Friday by the Chief Magistrate.

The CID arrested the schoolboy from Kadugannawa yesterday and the 27-year-old individual was arrested today.

The website was hacked on two consecutive days, on August 25 and 26. The first hacking was done by a Sri Lankan individual or group who posted a message in Sinhalese. The second hacking was claimed to be the work of a Bangladeshi.

However the Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) later said that both the attacks were likely done locally.
