Malabe Shooting: Second Weapon Belonging To Army Officer Raises Questions

The navy found a second weapon belonging to the army Lieutenant Colonel who is currently in remand custody over the shooting of his estranged wife at Malabe.

A 9mm pistol belonging to his was found from the Diyawanna Oya earlier. The second weapon is a micro pistol which is not being used by security forces in the country. Furthermore, its serial number has been erased.

Investigations have been launched to find out the manner in which the Lieutenant Colonel came to the possession of this weapon.

The 45-year-old mother of three was shot through a window of the house at Isurupura, Malabe, on Saturday night. She was admitted to Colombo National Hospital where she underwent surgery. The shooting took place at around 10.15 p.m. on Saturday.

Her husband was arrested on Tuesday and was later remanded till September 9.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Army has suspended the services of the officer.
