The CID today informed Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court that they are investigating an IP address from Bangladesh regarding the hacking of President Maithripala Sirisena's official web site.

This was informed during the magisterial inquiry into the hacking of the website.

The court was informed that two IP addresses were involved in the incident and one of them was provided by the Dialog company.

The two suspects, including the 17-year-old schoolboy, arrested for the hacking, were released on bail. The schoolboy was released on two sureties of Rs 1 million each while the 27 year-old individual arrested for the incident was released on a cash bail of Rs 25,000 and four sureties of Rs 1 million each.

Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered the parents of the schoolboy to provide the details of expenses for internet bills during the last six months. He also adviced the parents to be watchful of the activities of the boy.

The President's website was hacked on consecutive days, namely, August 25 and 26. On the first day, a message in Sinhalese made a few demands including the rescheduling of the GCE A\L examination to August. On the second day, the hacker claimed to be a Bangladeshi. However, Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) later said that both the hacking were likely done by locals.
