Bribery Commission Seeks Order Against Granting Bail To Senadhipathi

September 20, 2016

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed a revision application with the Colombo High Court challenging the decision of Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya to grant bail to Avant-Garde Maritime Services Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi and Maj. Gen. Palitha Fernando.

They were granted bail on September 6 after being arrested by the Bribery Commission.

The commission alleges that the proper legal procedure has not been followed in granting bail to the two suspects.

The Bribery Commission recently filed a case against Senadhipathi, Fernando, former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and several others over the floating armory operated by the Avant-Garde company.
