He was released on a cash bail of Rs 250,000 and four sureties of Rs 10 million each.

In August, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed a case against former MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena for causing a loss of Rs 883 million to Mihin Lanka during his tenure as its CEO.

He is alleged to have awarded a contract to a private firm named TPL Inter bypassing the tender process, causing the loss.
