Mathews Blamed For International Cricketer's Retirement

September 24, 2016

All rounder Dilhara Lokuhettige yesterday blamed Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews for his decision to resign from international cricket, since Mathews did not give him any opportunity to enter the team.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday at the Moors club to announce his decision, he pointed out that he had been called for the Sri Lanka squad a few times and was in the tour to West Indies in 2013. However, he was largely a traveler during that tournament, he added.

Lokuhettige claims that he was blocked by Mathews.

He also claimed to have inquired from the then Selection Committee member Pramodya Wickramasinghe, who apparently said that Mathews was the one who is blocking his war.
