Water Board Urges Public To Use Water Sparingly

September 24, 2016

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has urged the public to use water sparingly.

The prevailing dry weather condition has immensely affected the water supply.  Chairman of the Board K.A. Ansar says the water supply to southern, western, central, Sabaragamuwa and eastern provinces have been affected as well. Water cannot be supplied throughout the day to certain areas.  Bowsers are used to supply water to such areas. The chairman emphasized although the water is continuously supplied to Colombo and suburbs, the public should use water sparingly.

The level of water consumption has increased by 15 percent due to the dry weather condition.
