Lion Brewery Given Four Month Tax Exemption, Petitioners Tell Appeals Court

The Finance Ministry has granted a four month tax exemption for the Lion Brewery, which has caused a loss of Rs 6 billion to the state, a writ petition informed the Court of Appeals.

The petition was filed by six Buddhist monks including Angulugalle Jinananda Thera.

The Court of Appeals considered the petition and issued notice to fifteen respondents including Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake to appear before court on October 12.
