The People's Bank filed for damages of Rs 500 million each from the English language daily Ceylon Today and the Sinhala language daily Mawbima, published by the Ceylon Newspapers Ltd.

Filing the case at Colombo District Court, the bank said its reputation was damaged by recent articles on the digitization of the bank. The bank states that the articles were based on false facts.
