Police Commission To Launch Probe Into Death Of Two Students

The National Police Commission will conduct a separate investigation into the recent deaths of two Jaffna University students.

This will be conducted independent of the current investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department.

On Saturday, President Maithripala Sirisena ordered the officials to conduct an impartial and independent inquiry into the incident without any disturbance and produce it to the courts.

Five police officers were arrested by the Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in connection with the incident. They were remanded by the Jaffna court till the November 4.
