Language Should Not Be Cause Of Conflict Says President

President Maithripala Sirisena says no conflict should take place in the country based on the languages spoken by the communities. 

He added that in some countries conflicts have occurred based on languages. The President pointed out that that kind of conflicts happened even in Sri Lanka. The President was speaking at the prize giving ceremony at Dharmaraja College in Kandy. President Sirisena pointed out that the government has the duty to ensure rights of the people speak different languages. 

He noted that administrative works should be accomplished in the languages that are even spoken by the minorities. President Sirisena said that there is an international law for having education in their mother tongue. The President stressed that physical and human resources will be improved to impart Sinhalese language to Tamil and Muslim students and Tamil language to Sinhala students.
